In the last few weeks we have seen unprecedented disruption in personal and work life of every citizen in the US and in State of Georgia. Since I took over the President of GAPI last year, we had a robust slate of events planned for these few months. Had just finished a great meeting in Valdosta on March 7th, 2020. We had to cancel the Warner Robins meeting the following week. So, a few weeks ago it all came to a standstill due to be coronavirus spreading throughout the nation. Due to the adverse conditions in Georgia and in US due to the COVID-19 pandemic we have decided to postpone the GAPI Annual meeting which was to be held on May 9, 2020 in Augusta.
The GAPI Executive Committee made this decision after meeting this week. An online meeting option was proposed by me but by the nature of our association and preference for in person meeting by majority, it was not accepted. It has been postponed to a later date till the environment is more conducive for larger gatherings. meanwhile we are diverting our energies to help our communities and people in distress. I know everybody’s doing what they can and contributing to the charitable causes they prefer but please wait for a big announcement about this from me and GAPI Executive Committee tomorrow. A lot of people are struggling and we as a group or banding together to help them in a substantial way.Thank you so much!
